Hogwarts Legacy: A Through Time
Lauren Miranda Bones (b. 2007) was a British wizard and a Gryffindor student at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry during the 21st century. She was born to a half-blood mother and a pure-blood father. Her older brother, Miles Bones, attended Hogwarts much earlier than Lauren.
Biography
Early life
Lauren was born in March 2007 to Susan Bones, a half-blood wizard, and Richard Raven, a pure-blood wizard.
Sometime in a year, her father starts meddling with dark arts, but her mother hates dark magic and decides to leave him by taking her children and moving out of their family home.
Hogwarts years (2018 - 2025)
In 2016, Lauren began attending Hogwarts and was Sorted into Gryffindor House. In her first year at Hogwarts, she received a new Time-Turner gift from her estranged father. At first, she did not want to keep it, but she decided to keep it for an urgent situation.
Battle with the Death Eaters
In the fifth year, she and her friends had a battle against the Death Eaters, but a killing curse that one of the Death Eaters cast on her time turner sends her back in time, but too far past the 19th century.
Fifth year (1890–1891)
After being hit by a killing curse and almost dying, she was transported back in time and was badly injured, but Prof. Fig found her and took her to Hogwarts.
Meeting Sebastian Sallow and Headmaster Black
Now stuck in the past, badly injured Lauren and Prof. Fig arrive at Hogwarts. Fig calls the headmaster to help, and Black runs there. However, Lauren faints and falls to the floor. Black calls Sallow to help pick up a girl while holding her. Lauren opens her eyes just a moment and smiles at a strange boy. She is amazed but loses consciousness again.
The Truth
Lying in the hospital wing, Headmaster Black noticed a strange medallion around her neck and asked about it. Initially, Lauren did not want to tell where she was from, but decided to tell the truth about herself.
After Black learns the truth about Lauren's origin, he decides to keep her safe at Hogwarts and put her in Slytherin House, even though she is not a Pureblood. He also tells Lauren that she is a late transfer student accepted into the Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry.
Physical appearance
Lauren was described as a beautiful girl. She was short in stature, with long brown hair and hazel eyes like her mother. When she got angry, her eyes became hard and blazing. Her fair skin turned red when she blushed. When not in uniform, she dressed modestly and wore jewelry and makeup only for special occasions.
Personality and traits
Lauren is known to be a knowledgeable and hard-working young woman, often being, as most say, the "smartest witch of her age", implying how much she knows about magic and magic-related subjects. She was also unafraid to try new things and dared to be different from most others.
One constant feature about Lauren would be her creative mind and excellent memory, which led her to become the best potion maker and spell-caster in Hogwarts in her time (21st century).
Lauren is a kind-hearted but headstrong witch. A gentle heart with a strong affinity for courage, which leads her to fall in love too easily and get hurt after that. She has a thrill for adventure and loves to explore and learn all she can about magic.
Underneath her kind exterior is a raging storm with a force to be reckoned with. She can be quite stubborn at times, but she’s always there for those she cares about deeply.
Before she was put in Gryffindor, the Sorting Hat did not know where to put her, either in Gryffindor or Slytherin, because of her traits. She could be in either of two houses; however, she must be in one house only. Her personality is like Slytherin's; she is cunning, resourceful, ambitious, driven, and self-reliant. However, like Gryffindor, she is strong-willed, trusting, moral, adventurous, idealistic, passionate, honest, stubborn, reckless, argumentative, and hot-tempered. Lauren told the Sorting Hat to put her in Gryffindor, like he did to Harry Potter once. Eventually, she was put in the right house: Gryffindor, because she has more traits in Gryffindor than in Slytherin.
Magical abilities and skills
Basic Powers
- Spell Casting: The power to cast spells and perform rituals.
- Stupefy: the charm that stunned the target, rendering them unconscious. This charm was exceptionally useful in dueling, as it could quickly end a duel without causing lasting damage.
- Memory Charm: the charm that could be used to erase specific memories from an individual's mind. It was different from the spell that created false memories.
- Disarming Charm: the charm that forced whatever an opponent held to fly out of their hand. It was common to see this spell used in duels to make mopponentsnent lose their wand.
- Dangling Jinx: the jinx, which was intended to be cast nonverbally, but the incantation could also be spoken aloud, caused the victim to be hoisted into the air by their ankle; the counter-jinx for this jinx was Liberacorpus.
- Sectumsempra intended to use it against his enemies, likely including the Marauders, and it became one of his specialties.
- Silencing Charm: that rendered the victim temporarily mute.
- Healing Spell: the spell distinguished by its capacity to magically improve the physical condition of the living object — they were thus a branch of Healing magic. Lauren had an immense understanding of healing charms, being proficient with the casting of Episkey, Anapneo, and the Bandaging Charm.
- Stamina Charm: the charm that enhances and restores an individual's stamina.
- Reviving Spell: the charm that awakened an unconscious target.
- Vulnera Sanentur: the song-like incantation of a healing spell used to heal deep wounds, which could also be used as the counter-curse for the curse Sectumsempra. Lauren used this spell to save Sebastian after he was attacked by Anne Sallow using the Banishing Charm. She then took him to the Hospital Wing for further treatment, hoping to avoid scarring.
- Nonverbal spell: performed without the casting wizard or witch speaking the incantation aloud.
- Shield Charm: the charm that protected the caster with an invisible shield that reflected spells and blocked physical entities.
- Firestorm: the charm which produced a large ring of fire around the caster's wand.
- Wiping Spell (Tergeo): the magic of a cleaning spell used to siphon liquids such as blood, dust, or grease, and to clean objects. Lauren used it to remove the dried blood from Ominis's face.
- Potion Making: The power to brew and concoct potions, remedies, and elixirs that have supernatural properties.
- Blood-Replenishing Potion: the healing potion that replenishes blood loss from injuries or other means.
- Polyjuice Potion: the potion that allows the drinker to temporarily assume someone else's physical form. It was a highly complicated, challenging, and time-consuming potion.
Active Powers
- Empathy - the ability to perceive and interact with the emotions of others.
- Mediumship: Due to her powers expanding, Lauren developed a form of spiritual empathy, allowing her to commune with spirits.
- Emotional Energy Manipulation: the power to convert emotion into raw energy. This power is an expansion of empathy.
- Clairaudience: Some Empaths have displayed the ability to feel emotions and "hear" the heightened thoughts associated with those emotions. This is probably because both cortices (emotional and mental) are so closely related to one another. An example would be if an empath senses two spouses aiming a lot of hatred towards one another.
- Psychometry: Some places have constant emotional residue (due to major events happening in that location, war, death, historical moments, etc.). Some empaths can tap into those emotional (lower-level users that enter these places are overpowered involuntarily) imprints and re-experience those emotions as if they were happening at that moment. If skilled enough, some empaths can also see the emotional echoes (images/residual ghosts) still there. This would be due to high levels of concentrated emotional energy.
- Telekinesis - the power to move objects or individuals with one's mind.
- Deviation: the practice of using one's magical powers to redirect other beings' magical attacks or projectiles back on the path of emanation.
Temporarily Powers:
- Ancient magic (through her baby's powers; briefly) - the rare ability to perceive traces of ancient magic upon objects or surfaces, and, if they possessed this gift, could interact with those traces appropriately.
- Light manipulation: the ability to conjure light.
- Healing: the ability to heal others who are injured.
- Mind manipulation: the ability to manipulate someone's mind.
- Reincarnation: the ability to bring back deceased people or animals.
- Fire manipulation: the ability to conjure fire.
Capabilities and Skillfulness
- Wandless and nonverbal magic: Lauren was also immensely accomplished at both wandless and nonverbal magic, enough to be capable of using both effortlessly. She could move objects magically without the incantations to do so normally, using her hand.
- Occlumency and Legilimency: Lauren is extremely talented and skillful in using both Occlumency and Legilimency, being able to virtually protect her mind and infiltrate the minds of others. She is incredibly gifted and professional in Legilimency, like her father. Lauren could detect if the person was lying and delve into her/his thoughts, emotions, and memories. Also, Lauren can sometimes receive visions of the present and future.
- Mind-reading: the magical ability to perceive the thoughts or feelings of others through extrasensory means. Lauren was born with the rare gift of reading people's thoughts from her paternal side. Her grandfather was skilled at reading people's minds.
- Love: It was the most important thing in her life. She deeply cared about her family and would willingly sacrifice her own life to save them all. When Sebastian killed his uncle, Lauren did not turn him in or tell professors that he killed his uncle because she loved Sebastian more than anything in this world and did not want to lose him for this.
- Dueling: The Crossed Wands dueling club champion and one of the most skillful duellists in Hogwarts. Her first duel was with Sebastian Sallow, her classmate; it went quite well, as she won the duel against Sebastian. She dueled one day with headmaster Black because Black wanted to see how skillful Lauren was.
- Ancient magic: When Lauren was pregnant with her unborn child, she possessed the rare gift of seeing traces of ancient magic; however, when a baby was born, she lost this.
- Healing magic: the branch of magic devoted to improving the health of living creatures. Lauren was able to heal Sebastian's injuries after Anne attacked him.
- Charms: Although she had only practiced any type of spell once, being fifteen years old (putting them at a considerable disadvantage with the rest of the fifth-year students at Hogwarts), Lauren proved to be a prodigy at learning and using charms. During Professor Fig's tutoring, Lauren had already learned to cast at least a few dueling spells, such as the Basic Cast, Shield Charm, and Stunning Spell, as well as learning to use Wand-Lighting Charm and Revelio Charm perfectly. During the beginning of her year at Hogwarts, Lauren quickly bridged the cultural time gap that separated them from their peers, by not only quickly learning all the spells that both the professors and other students and acquaintances taught them, but also being able to customize these spells so that she acquired additional powerful effects.
- Transfiguration: Also in her fifth year at Hogwarts, Lauren not only excelled in the Transforming Spells to turn objects and targets into something else (even in the middle of a duel), but also excelled at the conjuration, alteration, and vanishing of various personal objects which they used within the Room of Requirement to set it up as their personal laboratory, as well as a shelter for the animals they saved. They could also perform remarkable feats of transfiguration through ancient magic, for example, permanently turning adversaries into chickens or considerably reducing the size of spiders (including Acromantulas) to the point that the creatures could easily be smashed under their heels.
- Defence Against the Dark Arts: She was an accomplished duellist, starting with their fight against the trolls in Hogsmeade, and eventually becoming capable of taking on and beating countless other enemies as well, such as Ranrok's Loyalists, Rookwood Gang members, and the Lord of the Shore. Ultimately, her dueling ability was so great that she could take down Ranrok himself, in his dragon form, and save both Hogwarts and the wizarding world. Her heroism was recognized by their professors as well as by the rest of the school.
- Dark Arts: While not an active criminal, on her journey with Sebastian Sallow to save Anne Sallow, Lauren learned the Unforgivable Curses quite early, and she used them in combat. It said she hated dark arts because of her father, who started using them in his early years.
- Potions: Lauren was capable of creating powerful potions that were useful in pursuing their activities; in particular, they were well known for knowing and using potions in combat situations. Her capabilities included the Wigginweld Potion, the Maxima Potion, the Thunderbrew, the Invisibility Potion, the Edurus Potion, and the Focus Potion. Even Professor Aesop Sharp, who was very demanding with his students, acknowledged that Lauren displayed considerable potion-making skills and encouraged them to develop them as much as she could.
- Herbology: Lauren was well known for effectively cultivating and even integrating certain magical plants, such as Mandrakes, Venomous Tentaculas, and Chinese Chomping Cabbages, into duels, as well as using them as ingredients in potion making.
- Flying: Lauren showed an instinctive aptitude for flying on a broomstick. During her first flying lesson with Madame Kogawa, they easily mastered the basics and even mastered some advanced flying techniques on an unauthorized flying tour with Everett Clopton. Later in the school year, Lauren defeated Imelda Reyes in a set of flying courses, which was remarkable, as Reyes was reputed to be the best broom flier attending Hogwarts.
- Care of Magical Creatures: Lauren was a natural at handling magical creatures, especially after being given a Nab-sack and access to vivariums inside the Room of Requirement, where they could keep creatures safe from poachers, breed them, and take care of them, and obtain various materials (hair, feathers, horns, etc.) from them. She notably interacted with Mooncalves, Puffskeins, Kneazles, Nifflers, Diricawls, Jobberknolls, Fwoopers, Giant Purple Toads, Unicorns, and Thestrals (the latter of whom they were able to see due to having witnessed George Osric's death). She quickly won the trust of almost every magical creature they interacted with. After their first Beasts class, she befriended the Hippogriff Highwing. Later during her fifth year, she even won the allegiance of both a Graphorn and a phoenix. Befriending these creatures is said to be nearly impossible for the average wizard.
- Astronomy: Lauren was passionate about this subject after their first lesson, and in their many adventures, managed to find time to dedicate to stargazing and discovering various constellations at night.
- Divination: Lauren once had a dream about Sebastian and how he became DARK. However, her dream becomes a reality instantly after she wakes from it when Imelda, her friend, runs to her room to tell him that Sebastian was kidnapped.
- Apparition: Lauren was the first in her class to Apparate successfully, achieving Apparition twice in that time and passing her test on the first attempt. Both she and Sebastian were injured after she was attacked by Sebastian's uncle, and Sebastian was attacked by his sister, Anne, after killing Solomon in the catacombs of Feldcroft. After Lauren temporarily healed Sebastian's injuries almost, she could teleport herself and injure Sebastian out there to the forbidden forest to make it look like they were attacked there.
- Parseltongue: Lauren learned this ability from Harry Potter in her third year when he visited Hogwarts and taught her. In the past 1890, she opened a chamber while Sebastian was at her side to save their friend, Ominis Gaunt, from Tom Riddle. Lauren's ancestors are Gaunts, a distant relative who can speak snakes, but neither Lauren nor her father's family inherited this ability.
Possessions
- First Wand (destroyed): Lauren owned a wand of an unknown length, wand wood, and wand core. She obtained her wand from Ollivanders in Diagon Alley, with her being a witch from Great Britain. Lauren could perform mighty magic with her wand, and she used it extensively during 2020 during her time-travelling mission.
- Charmed handbag: Lauren had a small, beaded handbag on which she placed an Undetectable Extension Charm in the summer of 2020. She used the handbag to carry clothing, books, Dittany, and camping equipment. The bag was small enough to fit in her sock, so as to not be stolen during the Chamber of the Secrets.
- Time-Turner: the magical device used for time travel. It was a special timepiece that resembled an hourglass on a necklace. In 2015, she got a gift (Time-Turner) from Hermione Granger, a former Hogwarts student and now Ministry of Magic. Years later, Lauren and Hogwarts students have a battle against the Death Eaters, and one Death Eater's spell hits Lauren's time-turner, and that sent her too far back in time.
- Prof. Fig's old wand: Fig gives his old wand to Lauren so that she can defend herself. Fig's old wand got destroyed in battle against Ranrok.
- Second wand: This was the wand that "chose the wizard", obtained from Ollivanders in Hogsmeade.
- Barn owl: They possessed an unnamed owl that brought them Owl Post.
- Broomstick: They purchased a broomstick from Spintwitches Sporting Needs in Hogsmeade. The available models they could have owned were the Ember Dash, a Hogwarts house-themed broomstick, the Moon Trimmer, the Wind Wisp, and the Yew Weaver, though they possibly earned other broomsticks later in the year.
- Highwing: After rescuing Highwing the Hippogriff from the poachers, Highwing became a personal pet and mount for Lauren.
- Telescope: Amit gave Lauren his old telescope to use for Astronomy class.
- Nab-sack: Given by Deek, this enchanted bag enabled the student to catch magical creatures roaming in the Highlands surrounding Hogwarts and release them in the vivariums of the Room of Requirement, where they would be safe from poachers.
- Keeper's wand: Prof. Fig gives Lauren a Keeper's wand that she can use to cast ancient magic; however, it is unknown why Fig gives her the wand.
- Marauder's Map: the magical document that revealed all of Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. Not only did it show every classroom, every hallway, and every corner of the castle, but it also showed every inch of the grounds, as well as all the secret passages hidden within its walls, and the location of every person on the grounds, portrayed by a dot. It was to keep Lauren's charmed handbag just in case he needed it. Harry makes copies of a map and gives one to Lauren.
- Marvolo the Truth: A book which was on one of the shelves in Minister for Magic Hermione Granger's office in 2020. It was either about Marvolo Gaunt, given that the title has his name, or about his infamous grandson, Tom Marvolo Riddle (later known as Lord Voldemort). It was in Lauren's handbag, which she took and read to Sebastian and Ominis.

- Skilled Combatant: Lauren has displayed some athletic ability in kicking a possessed Anne Sallow off herself.
- Singing: Lauren has a love for singing.
- Dancing: Lauren has practised her ability to dance with her mother.
- Alcoholic Tolerance: Despite her underage body, Lauren has displayed a surprisingly high tolerance for alcohol.

Sebastian Sallow: "What??? NO! I--"
Lauren: "Don't lie to me, Sallow."
~~ Lauren and Sebastian fight about how Sebastian used and manipulated her only.
Sebastian was Lauren's classmate and his future husband. Sebastian met Lauren when she was badly injured after a battle with dark wizards and took her to the hospital wing.
Over time, they got closer and closer and fell in love eventually. Lauren did everything for Sebastian, even fighting many creatures and learning Unforgivable Curses, which Hogwarts did not allow. They kissed for the first time at Greenhouse and made love there too when no one was around.
Their love story almost ended when Lauren discovered that Sebastian was only taking advantage of her, thinking Lauren could heal her sister because she had a Keeper's wand. In contrast, Sebastian thought she was, and he was frustrated. Lauren broke up with him and went into a relationship with Ominis, with whom he was friends at the beginning, and he is Sebastian's best friend. Eventually, Sebastian learned that he loved Lauren and wanted to be with her; however, after learning that she dated his best friend. He was heartbroken and started a relationship with Imelda Reyes again, whom he was not in love with, but went relationship with because he wanted to make Lauren jealous.
After she was in a relationship with Ominis, Lauren went fighting with creatures alone in the Undercroft, and to look for something that would fix her Time-Turner and get back, home, but there she met Sebas, tian who went a. Howeverever, they ended up making love to each other later on while, there Lauren admits she was in love with him still. They restore their relationship and go on a date; however, Lauren tells the truth to him about herself, how she got to Hogwarts.
After Solomon's demise, Ominis felt that they had to turn Sebastian in for his crime. However, Lauren decided to keep the event secret for Sebastian's sake. Sebastian showed great guilt for his actions. Following these days, Lauren was the only one who talked with Sebastian and comforted him because of what happened to his uncle.
Samantha Sallow (daughter)
Sam is her and Sebastian's firstborn child and only daughter. She was born in 2027 before her youngest brother, Albert.
She was gifted a rare ability (Ancient magic) to protect the greatest good.
Although everyone thought or believed that her mother, Lauren, was gifted that ability, it was proven wrong later on.
Albert Sallow (son)
Albert is her and Sebastian's second child and only son. He was born in 2030, three years later than her older sister, Samantha.
In-laws:
Anne Sallow (closest friend/sister-in-law)
Lauren: "I had feelings for your brother!"
Anne Sallow: "That's new. We are sisters already."
Lauren: "I am not married to Sebastian yet."
Anne Sallow: "You might be."
~~ Lauren admits to Anne that he had feelings for Sebastian.
Anne was Lauren's close friend and future sister-in-law. They meet for the first time when Sebastian and Lauren visit Sallow Home, and Anne starts to like her even though Solomon throws Sebastian and Lauren out of the house. They continue to write each other letters daily and send them to each other. Anne was happy she had a new friend to trust and maybe keep Sebastian away from Dark Arts. Anne knew there was no cure for her curse, and that's why she needed Lauren to keep Sebastian from looking for a cure.
After Solomon's death, Anne moved away a little way; however, she kept in touch with Lauren because the two became close when Sebastian found out that Lauren and Anne sent each other letters. Then he was furious and angry that Anne did not send letters to him, but Lauren told Sebastian that she needed time and space.
When Anne died, Sebastian was mostly inside doors and never came out of a room. Lauren brought breakfast and dinner to the room.
Ominis Gaunt (best friend/brother-in-law)
Ominis Gaunt: "He's already hurt you. He used you for his own, and you still forgive him! I don't understand you, Lauren."
Lauren: "I--Look. Ominis, just please don't..."
Ominis Gaunt: "Don't what? He used you, and he manipulates you! He's using people for his own good only."
~~ Ominis talks to Lauren about Sebastian's true colours and intentions.
Ominis was Lauren's classmate, closest friend, and former boyfriend. They dated while Lauren and Sebastian broke up with each other. He was in love with Lauren, but did not want to ruin their friendship after she and Sebastian broke up. He got a chance to be with her a little bit, but it was a short relationship between them because Lauren told him that she was in love with Sebastian and wanted to give him a second chance. They broke up; however, they remained close friends. Ultimately, he becomes Lauren's brother-in-law by marrying Sebastian's late sister, Anne, and Lauren's daughter Sam's godfather.

Fig was the second professor who learned about Lauren's secret that she is from another century and helped her fix the Time Turner, which was broken. When they meet, Fig gives her his old wand for self-defense, and he is the one who gives her the Keepers' wand also. He helped Lauren with most of her expeditions before he died during a final battle against Ranrok. Lauren told Sebastian and Ominis that Fig was like his closest friend.
